WRVS community transport

We're a big supporter of free bus travel for older people, however, it doesn't help everyone. Some buses only run once a day, if at all, and not everyone lives close to a bus stop.

Having the ability to go shopping, catch up with friends or take part in other activities when you want to is something most of us take for granted. It is a different story for many older people. Why shouldn’t older people have more choice in their lives?

Recent research commissioned by WRVS has shown that one in three older people can't always get to where they want to go.

WRVS community transport offers older people the choices they deserve. The friendly, personal door-to-door lifts help them get on with their daily lives and have fun too. It helps people be more independent and in control of their lives. It's more affordable too as people only need to pay for petrol costs for the journey.

WRVS is making a difference
Last year, WRVS gave 60,000 lifts to over 7,000 older people across Britain. The journeys that people can take range from local trips to the shops to a group of friends going on a fun day out further afield. We offer lifts in volunteer's cars and on minibuses or accessible vehicles.

Our services wouldn't exist without the time generously given by our dedicated volunteers. Their caring and friendly approach makes each journey a bit more special.
